-Lawmaker honoured with outstanding/merit award by Lagos East youths

It was a commendation galore for the representative of the Ikorodu Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives and the Chairman, House Committee on Defense, Hon. Babajimi Benson, as chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) took time to shower praises on him for his representation.
The commendations came at this month’s edition of the distribution of ‘Apo – Anu’ (Bag of Mercy) which the federal lawmaker has been sponsoring for six years and through which he has been providing food items for many families across the councils in Ikorodu Federal Constituency on monthly basis.
As usual, 500 families were provided with bags of food items at the event held at the Rep Babajimi Benson Constituency office on Saturday, May 9, 2021.
Close to 30, 000 families have been fed since August 2015 when the ‘Apo Anu’ food distribution started.
The event was attended by many notable APC chieftains, party members, iCare members, residents as well as beneficiaries of the food distribution.
Outstanding/Merit award was presented to the lawmaker by the APC Youth Leader, Lagos East Senatorial District, Mr Bashiru, for his contributions and support for the youth development in the District.
During the remarks session at the events, Asiwaju Olorunfunmi Basorun, a chieftain of APC and the Governance Advisory Council (GAC), the highest decision making body in Lagos State, commended Hon. Benson’s representation and respect for elders and charged young and aspiring politicians to emulate him.
“Jimi Benson is a great man and he has compassion for his people.
“He has been representing us very well and has also been discharging his assignment accordingly. We are proud of him.
“Other young politicians that are aspiring should emulate his respect for elders and good deeds”, the elder statesman charged.
Former Federal Minister for Works and chieftain of the APC, Sen. Seye Ogunlewe, while commending the federal lawmaker, also charged Council Chairmen across the division to emulate Hon. Benson and live up to their responsibilities by ensuring that people feel the impact of council administration in their respective domains.
Chairman of the House Committee on Public Account (State), and representative of the lkorodu Constituency Il in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Nurudeen Solaja, also commended the federal lawmaker and called on the people to continue to give him maximum support.
Alhaji Omotayo Olufowora (Educay) also commended the lawmaker for his impact and love for his people.
He assured him of his continuous support.
Former acting Commissioner for Tourism and Special Adviser on Arts & Culture, Hon. Adebimpe Akinsola, in her own remarks, said that Rep. Benson has been making people happy through his numerous programmes.
She commended him for facilitating numerous infrastructural projects for the development of every part of Ikorodu Division.
Prince Jimoh Ogunmuyiwa, a former Chairman of Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA, in his own remarks, said that the 106.1FM initiated by Rep. Benson has been projecting Ikorodu very well, particularly the market men and women.
He also commended the lawmaker’s impact on the youths and generality of Ikorodu people.
Speaking on behalf of the six Chairmen in Ikorodu Division, Hon. Fathiu Salisu, the Chairman of Ijede LCDA, said that Ikorodu is not ready to change the federal lawmaker because of his impactful representation.
“Hon. Babajimi Benson has been providing and supporting the masses and he will never go hungry.
“Because of his quality representation, Ikorodu is not ready to change him. He is performing”, he said.
Other dignitaries that attended the food distribution ceremony were Mayor Deen Sanwoola, Director General, iCare Foundation, Hon. Saheed Hassan, former two – term member of the Lagos State House of Assembly and two – term Chairman of the Ijede LCDA, Hon. Adeola Jokomba, former Chairman, Ikorodu North LCDA, Captain Benson, APC Chieftain, Hon. Wasiu Agoro, Chairman, Imota LCDA and Builder Sesan Daini, Chairman, Igbogbo/Bayeku LCDA among many others.
